چکیده

BMJ 1993;306:493 Cardiovascular disease is three times more common in diabetic patients than the non-diabetic population and is the main cause of death in people with non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.' The importance of the plasma triglyceride concentration as a risk factor for coronary heart disease in the general population is still uncertain. In diabetic patients, however, triglyceride concentrations are an important predictor of coronary heart disease,2 and patients with non-insulin dependent diabetes are twice as likely as non-diabetic people to be dyslipidaemic,3 hypertriglyceridaemia being the commonest lipid abnormality.4 As diabetic patients have little feedback on their daily lipid concentrations we aimed at determining whether self monitoring of plasma triglyceride concentrations improved lipid concentrations (and perhaps indirectly glucose concentrations) in patients with non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.

The Effect of Modified "Aggression Replacement Training" Program on Self-efficacy of Adolescents with Insulin-dependent Diabetes

Background: Self-efficacy is a crucial factor in controlling adolescents with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). Subsequently the negative behavioral reactions such as aggression adversely affect on self-efficacy. Therefore, interventions are essential to reduce the aggression and to improve the self- efficacy in these patients. Aim: To determine the efficacy of the modified "aggressio...

ارتباط سطح سرمی رزیستین با شاخص های مقاومت به انسولین در افراد چاق دیابتی و غیر دیابتی

Background: Resistin, an adipocyte secreted factor, has been suggested to link obesity with type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance in rodent models but its relevance to human diabetes remains uncertain. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum resistin concentrations with insulin resistance and obesity indices in type 2 diabetes and non-diabetic obese subjects.Met...

EVALU ATION OF INSULIN-SUL FONYLUREA COMBINATION V ERSIJS INSULIN AL ONE IN THE T REATMENT OF NON-INSULIN D EPENDENT DIABETES MELLITU S (NID DM)

Lowering the glucose level in diabetic patients reduces the risk of many consequences which are usually reported in these patients. Non-insulin dependent (type II) diabetes which cannot be controlled with sulfonylureas alone can be controlled with a combination of sulfonylurea and insulin. In an open randomized trial 58 patients were divided into three groups. The fIrst group received only ...
